Learning A Foreign Language
Learning which foreign language would be most useful?
I am keen to Learn A foreign language (preferably more in future) and as I am a fast learner and not too dull, I think I’ll be able to study it no matter how complex it is in terms of grammar/script/etc.
So why not learn something that will be useful?
Mandarin is one of the most spoken Languages in the world but will it be needed in future? I’m planning on studying medical science, by the way. I was wondering about Spanish since there are a lot of countries that use it. What about French, Italian and Portuguese? Are they widespread?
I’m acquainted with English (duh!), Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu and some regional languages, too.
So what do you think? Which language(s) would be most useful?
By the way, I won’t be having much problem learning any kind of language… except something spoken by a small number like Zulu, Welsh or something like that, for which the books and classes aren’t easily available.
Well it all depends on where you plan on going and what you would like to do. Spanish has become very popular here in the United States.
French is used in Western Europe, North Africa and parts of the Far East.
German is used through Central Europe and parts of South Africa (along with the closely related Dutch, which is spoken in Southern Africa and Indonesia. German is also well known in the business world.
Arabic is a good one since all Muslims have to learn it in order to read the Qu’ran and listen to the calls to prayer. Arabic is spoken in the Middle East, Northern Africa, Western China, the Far East and Northern India.
Italian is pretty much only good in Italy, but it can be a base to help Learn Spanish, French, and Romanian.
I would recommend a Latin based language if you’re going into the medical field since all medical terms are in Latin around the globe.
