Description
This course is an excellent pre-requisite to any study of Latin. The focus has been placed on understanding the Latin case system. The case system may be the most important concept to understand and yet foreign to most English speakers. Once this is mastered and understood Latin becomes quite easy to learn.
We will begin with the Latin alphabet and pronunciation then continue to discuss important grammatical concepts that do not always receive enough emphasis. Students will learn how to determine the base of a noun and add all endings onto the base for all five noun declensions. The final part of the course will be dedicated to the five noun declensions. Students will apply what they have learned in an exercise analyzing the Hail Mary prayer.
This course is designed to drill the Latin case system for all five noun declensions so the student can develop an understanding of the grammatical structure behind the language. This will make more advanced study easier since they will have developed a strong foundation of the language structure that simply needs to be built upon. Once this foundation is built, verbs can be studied in detail and vocabulary can be expanded upon. I look forward to creating more courses outlining these topics.
